My bench room is where I spend most of my time in the shop. It is where I have been able to stretch out with my hand tools and create some dedicated space for certain operations as well as keep a more flexible traditional woodworking bench. I have space dedicated to inlaying, a set-up
bench, a sharpening station and my old trusty shave-horse for neck carving with drawknives, spokeshaves, and rasps all at arm’s reach.
Old cast-iron machines occupy most of the machine room Ray and I have put together. Once properly restored, they are a joy to use. There really is no substitute for massive cast-iron when it comes to machines.
